Council flats for socially-minded postgraduate students

As part of the programme offering council flats to socially-minded postgraduate students, Mondragon Unibertsitatea has three places available.

The criteria for eligibility are:

  • Being a postgraduate student at Mondragon Unibertsitatea.
  • Shared tenancy scheme at a nominal rent of €55 (excluding electricity and water charges).
  • To collaborate on community projects and support local groups in the Otxarkoaga and Bilbao La Vieja neighbourhoods, where the twenty or so homes are located.

Assignment

The allocation of the three places at Mondragon University will be assessed as follows:

  • Particular circumstances of vulnerability relating to the applicant (exiles, asylum seekers, etc.)
  • Geographical origin, with priority given to students from Latin America.
  • Volunteering experience
  • The percentage of the Mondragon scholarship that has been allocated to you.

Decision and Award

Preliminary results and provisional allocation of places on 8 July 2026. All applicants will be notified of their status.

Acceptance by the successful bidder by 10 July 2026.

Once this process has been completed, if there are any places left, we will turn to the waiting list.

If there are still places available, an additional intake will be opened.

Note: Once Mondragon Unibertsitatea has allocated the place, Bilbao City Council will take over the process and deal directly with the students. The estimated date for the handover of keys and the allocation of the social project is mid-October 2026.
