Training Activities
Training activities that Mondragon University and UVic provide within the framework of the doctoral programme of Innovation and Educational Intervention are:
1. Cross-cutting training
Doctoral students will attend research training activities organised annually in both universities and which aims to maintain formal training of research staff.
This training aims to qualify doctoral students in the steps to follow in the complex process of research, also ensuring a relationship with recognised researchers that serves to support them in the process of research.
To achieve this, the universities linked to the doctoral programme will schedule an annual programme of cross-cutting courses; independently of the university offering the course, it will be available to all the doctoral students registered, regardless of where they registered. This training offered aims to help doctoral students to acquire the following cross-disciplinary skills:
- Develop informational skills.
- Develop language and communication skills.
- Use clear, significant and viable tools of treatment and identification of research challenges.
- Design projects with methodological rigour.
- Undertake analysis and critical assessments and synthesis of new and complex ideas.
- Transfer scientific knowledge, i.e. share research results with the academic and scientific community and with society in general.
2. Train in specific competences
As regards the specific competences, each research group that welcomes a doctoral student will establish activities or suitable mechanisms so that the student participates in the following forums: a) group working sessions, b) periodic internal seminars for scientific discussion, c) active group research projects, d) innovative training and research activities done by the research staff, in national and international conferences. Training in specific competences aims to ensure that the doctoral student acquires the competences listed below:
- Systematic understanding of the area of knowledge and command of the research skills and methods related to this area.
- Contribution of the doctoral student to the research group in order to expand the frontiers of knowledge; in so doing, developing a substantial body of work, that warrants referenced publication at national and international level.
- Contrasting types of work undertaken.
- Ability to work in a team with people of the same speciality or related specialities.
- Ability to apply for and manage research projects.
- Ability to communicate effectively in an informal scientific environment.
Specific training activities will be organised within the research groups and will be aimed at the doctoral students and researchers of the group as well as the doctoral students and researchers of research groups of the other universities linked into the programme, with whom they carry out combined research projects.
3. Research seminar for Innovation and Educational Intervention
Annually, the CAPD promotes and organises a combined research seminar between the two universities, done alternately at one or other university sites with the aim of:
- Promote the oral and written communication skills of the students to ensure their ability to transfer their research results to the scientific community and to society.
- Help doctoral students and researchers from other groups linked to the programme to share research experiences and enrich them, through critical analysis and the contributions of all participants.
- Promote joint research projects between the research groups of the two universities.
